If you're in the US, Monday is Labor Day, which is a National Bank holiday. Which means banks, Postal Service, and most companies will be closed. While we will be closed at work, it's a non-paid holiday for us.

I mentioned in my previous newsletter that I have been having pain in my stomach, which is preventing me from being able to sit and write. I did have a colonoscopy and endoscopy and have been diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), but I haven't had my follow-up appointment yet. It's scheduled for 9/28/21. Thankfully, except for one afternoon when I took some antibiotics they prescribed and I was dizzy and nauseous, I haven't missed any work due to my condition.

The news is all about flooding from Hurricane Ida destroying Louisiana, Mississippi, and the East Coast, and devastating fires in the west. I have a cousin who lives in Northern California who had to evacuate, but she's okay. I am praying they can get the electricity back on and the fire fighters can get the fires put out and you're not in the path of either, . We've had some nice showers, but except for the heat, we're fine weather-wise here on the South Plains of West Texas.

The Delta-Variant of COVID-19 is hitting Texas hard. The emergency rooms are almost full here. Here's the statistic report from yesterday. Several people who have already been vaccinated are in the hospital with COVID-19, and I have a friend from church who had the shots several months ago, but still got it, and is still recovering from having COVID-19. She didn't have it before she got the shot though. A gentleman at church did get it and was on the respirator for a couple of weeks and died the other day. I don't know if he got the vaccine, but I have a feeling he didn't.

Governor Abbott is not mandating masks again, but some places here are "Highly Recommending" mask wearing for indoor events. My supervisor is considering mandating masks for everyone who comes in.
