Hi, ,

As you know, I've been working as the Office Assistant at a glass place since the end of March. I started March 28th. I worked from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and sometimes Friday, but most of the time it was just 9:00-2:00 on Friday. Usually just got 27.5 hours a week.

Frequently, I was the only one there, but they wouldn't give me a key. I answered the phone, took payments, placed orders for glass, and inspected the glass when it was delivered from the suppliers, and called customers to verify that the guys could go out to either measure or install the glass, mirrors, or shower doors.

It's a "Mom & Pop (and son)" shop. The owners are friends of mine from church, and "Mom" had a motorcycle wreck several years ago and could hardly walk. They have a building behind their house, so they decided to move out there before I started working for them. They found someone to buy the shop during the summer, but he changed his mind. They decided to rent it out and the new tenant will be moving in the first of the year.

They finally started moving stuff out to the house and managed to get everything moved the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. That was my last day to actually work.

I had asked "Mom" if there was an office in the shop out there, and she said "Oh, yes, there's a really big room. It's Max's room."

I asked her, "Who's Max?"

He’s their really big, black, long-haired dog.
Well, I am allergic to dogs now (not deathly, I just start itching when I'm around them and cats), so I wasn't sure how I would be able to work in his room.

After Thanksgiving, I called her to see if I should go to the shop here in town, or out to the house (they live about 14 miles from my place. The shop here in town is 8 miles away.) She said for me to "Lay Low" for a while because she was going through everything and trying to figure out what to do with it, but she'd pay me anyway. Friday, she told me that the CSR for one of our clients had quit, so I should call them about getting hired for the job. I had an interview Monday, and the guy said he had a few other people to interview, but he'd let me know in a few days. This morning, I texted him and he said he'd hired someone else.

Yesterday "Mom" told me that yesterday would be my last day, but if she needed me and I was available, she'd have me come out and help her. She is doing better and is able to walk with a cane now. She also told me to be sure and put her down as a reference and have people call her.

I did receive my final paycheck today for the second week.

I have submitted some applications this week and will be requesting unemployment again on Monday.

I am still helping a friend take pictures of her things and post them on Facebook Market to sell.

Thanks for being a valued reader, .

I’ll keep you informed.
