Have you ever noticed that when you make plans to do something, it seems to take forever to get it done? Or am I the only one who can’t “meet a deadline?”

Don’t worry, I’m still working on “The Shipwrecked/Climb to the Top Collection Series”. I think I’ve gotten over the stumbling block that wasn’t a problem when Kris told about it, but now that I’m writing from Brad’s POV, it is. You’ll just have to wait and see what I’m talking about.

I had planned to write about today being “World Aids Day” but that didn’t happen, and I’m not going to turn this “blog” into it, either. But do remember the importance of Aids Awareness.

The actual reason for this “blog” is to inform you that I was looking for something on my desk the other day (NO! I’m not going to show you a picture of it) and found a short story that I wrote in the mid—80s while working at LaQuinta in either Harlingen or Amarillo, and it was actually complete. So I read it at my writers’ group meeting on Monday and they enjoyed it, so I finally got around to getting it published today. It’s called “My Death” and it’s now available here. It’s not a romance, nor one of my typical stories.Nor is it a tear jerker.I hope you’ll enjoy it.

As the former “editor” of the now folded, Plainview Writers Guild, I decided it would be nice to continue to publish “The Writer’s Quill”, which was the Guild’s monthly newsletter. Since I am attending a couple of writers groups here in town and one in Amarillo, I thought it would be nice to do that.I did manage to make my own “deadline” of today for the first issue. If you’re a writer or know someone who is interested in writing, you can subscribe to the newsletter here. (Update 5-23-18-During the issue with Joomla I had to remove the link to the Quill and since I no longer send it out, I didn’t post the old issues.)

Occasionally, I’ll get “friend requests” from people I don’t know at my Facebook page.I always ignore those because my FB is just for family and friends right now. If I don’t know you either in person or you’re related, I won’t friend you.I’m kinda “in the closet” there, so that’s why I’m keeping it separate. On that note, there are two people who “slipped in” about the time that I got online and didn’t realize what I was doing.Oh, well.I really don’t care for FB that much, but I do know that “they” say that authors need to get out there and be on FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.I’m there, I just don’t do much at any of them.I find that if I get too many things happening, I don’t do any writing. So if you find me on FB, please don’t try to friend me.You can find out more about what’s going on here at my blog than there, anyway. You can follow me on Twitter if you want, but you’ll probably forget that I’m there. You can also hook up with me on LinkedIn if you want to, but I don’t do anything there.

I have to admit, that I’ve been spending a lot of time this week trying to figure out how to get my website updated. It’s a long story so I won’t go into it, but as the program I use, Joomla! upgraded, I didn’t so I’m on the old version of it for my site.My other sites are up-to-date. I’m also getting ready to give the site for the church in Plainview to someone else and that is turning into a time-consuming issue.I thought I could use a backup program for it, but it backed up “everything” not just the one domain. The time-consuming part is the figuring it out; probably won’t be a problem at all to actually do it.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving for those in Canada and America.

Okay, okay.I’ll get back to work on this collection.

Thanks for listening/reading.

Mathis…
